Different ideas about tuning. 440hz

Why are there so many different ideas about tuning. 440hz was always considered the norm now we are getting the # 5ths b 3rdsetc. I personally think it's because the picker isn't placing his / her bar correctly and therefore with the tuning at 440hz they are playing out of tune. My ears aren't what they used to be because of the years racing motorcyles...we were never informed about going deaf from the high noise levels, I suppose the same could be said for rock music damaging ones hearing.

Is there anyone out there brave enough to put their head above the parapet and give us insight into this phenomenon. One thing I do know is throughout the world church organs are all tuned differently.

    A perplexed novice...Maurice

As you move the bar up and down the fretboard the angle of your vision changes and you have to use your ear to compensate.on the first fret its easy to be too far forward on the 24th too far back. Its practice and perserverance.
